Above, City Administrator Matt Gergely and Mayor Mike Cherepko present two-time Olympic gold medalist Swin Cash with a "Pride in McKeesport" button on Saturday at the Palisades.

Cash, a city native and forward for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA, was a member of the U.S. women's basketball team that won gold medals in 2008 and 2012.

During a Q-and-A session at the Palisades, Cash displayed the medal she received after this summer's games in London, as well as the uniform she wore during competition.

Cash also talked about her charitable work, including Cash for Kids, a youth-development organization working in McKeesport, Chicago and her adopted hometown of Atlanta.

Basketball leagues sponsored by Cash for Kids are now running almost year-round in McKeesport. The foundation also supports Pittsburgh-based YouthPlaces, which runs career-building, academic and recreational activities for young people at 17 sites around Allegheny County, including McKeesport's Crawford Village housing development and in Duquesne.
