The above map, courtesy of McKeesport Mayor Jim Brewster, shows the proposed new walking and hiking trail that could be constructed on the city-owned property adjacent to Renziehausen Park. The yellow area represents a proposed covered dog park, while the gray area indicates a suggested parking area.

The predicted location of a gas well to be drilled by Penneco Pipeline Co. of Westmoreland County is shown in blue. Eden Park Boulevard cuts through the center of the map. (Click to see a larger view.)

Feedback on “Proposed New Walking Trail Mapped”

A dog park? Really?

Frankly, I don’t think McKeesport is as cosmopolitan as Council thinks we are, and I’d much rather see the money spent on making additional trails for mountain biking. There are far more fat people in the City than there are fat canines, and unless someone can prove to me that the addition of a dog-specific area is going to eliminate the dog logs elsewhere in Renzi, I’m going to cry “wasteful spending.”

Realistically, though, mountain biking trails could bring in a few more people to spend their money here, considering the fact that the river trail is just a quick ride up from Boston. Think, Council, THINK.
