Briefly Noted: District Seeks Name for New School

Category: Announcements || By Submitted Report

McKeesport Area School District is asking for help in choosing a name for a new elementary school being built in the Seventh Ward.

The building, now under construction on the site of the former Cornell Elementary School, is a 120,000-square-foot facility that will serve more than 700 students in kindergarten through sixth grades, although older students will be separated from younger pupils.

Names are being accepted through Jan. 11 and anyone can enter. A panel of district staff, faculty and school board members will choose the winning name from the suggestions received.

The entry form can be downloaded from the district's website at www.mckasd.net.
