Air Quality Alert for Liberty, Clairton Areas

Category: News || By Submitted Report

The state Department of Environmental Protection has issued a "code orange" air quality alert for Liberty, Clairton, Glassport and surrounding areas through Friday, June 21.

A spokesman said the "code orange" alert means that air pollution concentrations --- particularly of ozone and small particles of pollution --- may be unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children, people with asthma and heart and lung diseases, and the elderly. Those groups should avoid strenuous activities or exercising outdoors.

For more information on air pollution, visit the federal AirNow website or the state's Air Quality Partners website.
