Tube City, WEDO Cooperating on Community Service

Category: Announcements || By

Tube City Community Media Inc. is working with WEDO (810) radio to bring community calendar announcements and public-service announcements to the radio station's airwaves.

The partnership follows this summer's decision by WEDO to carry portions of Tube City's coverage of the 2013 International Village festival.

Tube City volunteers will be providing fully-produced 30 and 60-second audio announcements for WEDO to use. In addition, Tube City will soon be providing WEDO listeners with "McKeesport History Minutes" in cooperation with the non-profit McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center.

Founded in 1947 and independently owned and operated by 810 Inc., WEDO is a sunrise-to-sunset AM station, licensed to McKeesport, whose 810 AM signal serves the Greater Pittsburgh area. Its studios are located in White Oak and its 1,000-watt transmitter is located in North Versailles Twp.

There is no charge for community organizations that want to participate. To get an announcement recorded for broadcast on WEDO, please email details about your group or event to tubecitytiger at gmail dot com, or write to Tube City Online, P.O. Box 94, McKeesport 15134. Include contact information. Sorry: No commercial announcements will be accepted.

If you would like to help by lending your voice and helping to record announcements, please email tubecitytiger at gmail dot com or call (412) 614-9659.
