Category: Announcements || By Submitted Report

McKeesport Housing Corp. is looking for qualified contractors, and has arranged training necessary for those contractors to be trained in managing lead-based paint hazards.

The non-profit corporation is sponsoring classes to train applicants as Lead-Based Paint Supervisors. The day-long classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 24 to 27 at the Brewster Building, corner of Ohio and Brownlee streets. There will be a one-hour break for lunch each day.

The classes cost $550 and registration is required by March 14. For more information, call (412) 664-7003.

McKeesport Housing Corp. is a non-profit agency whose work includes overseeing and often helping to fund renovations and repairs to older homes in the city, and the organization needs qualified contractors, says Jim Haughey, executive director. The lead-based paint supervisor training is required for many renovation projects.

To perform work for the MHC, Haughey says, contractors must have liability insurance, register with the state of Pennsylvania, have proof of worker's compensation insurance, and hold necessary EPA certifications. Interested contractors should contact MHC for details at (412) 664-7003, or visit its website.
